#RUSDPDDAY

Riverside Unified hosted it's first Professional Development day of teacher choice. The event took months of planning and effort, ending yesterday afternoon as a complete success. Teachers first signed up for the event on sched, choosing their PD options from a list of over 80 possible courses.
Attendees were all given a badge with a QR code which was used to scan them in for the event.
Over 2000 educators gathered together at Martin Luther King Jr High School to hear from the Superintendent and Google Evangelist Jaime Casap. Each educator was warmly greeted as they walked through a gauntlet of ASB students from each of RUSD's high schools giving them a round of applause.

Riverside educators participated in 3 different sessions that they chose which focused on instructional technology. Sessions were designed to modify the way PD is developed, presented, and received as presenters tried to move away from the "sit and get" model. Below are some more pictures from #rusdpdday
